Children Of The 80s

We are the children of the Eighties. We are not the first "lost generation" nor today's lost generation; in fact, we think we know just where we stand - or are discovering it as we speak. We are the ones who played with Lego Building Blocks when they were just building blocks and gave Malibu Barbie crewcuts with safety scissors that never really cut.

We collected Garbage Pail Kids and Cabbage Patch Kids and My Little Ponies and Hot Wheels and He-Man action figures and thought She-Ra looked just a little bit like I would when I was a woman. Big Wheels and bicycles with streamers were the way to go, and sidewalk chalk was all you needed to build a city. Imagination was the key. It made the Ewok Treehouse big enough for you to be Luke and the kitchen table and an old sheet dark enough to be a tent in the forest. Your world was the backyard and it was all you needed. With your pink portable tape player, Debbie Gibson sang back up to you and everyone wanted a skirt like the Material Girl and a glove like Michael Jackson's.

Today, we are the ones who sing along with Bruce Stringsteen and The Bangles perfectly and have no idea why. We recite lines with the Ghostbusters and still look to The Goonies for a great adventure. We flip through T.V. stations and stop at The A Team and Knight Rider and Fame and laugh with The Cosby Show and Family Ties and Punky Brewster and what you talkin' 'bout Willis? We hold strong affections for The Muppets and The Gummy Bears and why did they take the Smurfs off the air? After school specials were only about cigarettes and step-families, the Pokka Dot Door was nothing like Barney, and aren't the Power Rangers just Voltron reincarnated?

We are the ones who still read Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, the Bobbsey Twins, Beverly Clearly and Judy Blume, Richard Scary and the Electric Company. Friendship bracelets were ties you couldn't break and friendship pins went on shoes - preferably hightop Velcro Reebox - and pegged jeans were in, as were Units belts and layered socks and jean jackets and jams and charm necklaces and side pony tails and just tails. Rave was a girl's best friend; braces with colored rubberbands made you cool.

The backdoor was always open and Mom served only red Kool-Aid to the neighborhood kids- never drank New Coke. Entertainment was cheap and lasted for hours. All you needed to be a princess was high heels and an apron; the Sit'n'Spin always made you dizzy but never made you stop; Pogoballs were dangerous weapons and Chinese Jump Ropes never failed to trip someone. In your Underoos you were Wonder Woman or Spider Man or R2D2 and in your treehouse you were king.

In the Eighties, nothing was wrong. Did you know the president was shot? Star Wars was not only a movie. Did you ever play in a bomb shelter? Did you see the Challenger explode or feed the homeless man? We forgot Vietnam and watched Tiananman's Square on CNN and bought pieces of the Berlin Wall at the store. AIDS was not the number one killer in the United States. We didn't start the fire, Billy Joel.

In the Eighties, we redefined the American Dream, and those years defined us. We are the generation in between strife and facing strife and not turning our backs. The Eighties may have made us idealistic, but it's that idealism that will push us and be passed on to our children - the first children of the twenty-first century. Never forget: We are the children of the Eighties.

AMANDA BYNES

Amanda Bynes is the most precious and cutest young lady to ever hit Hollywood. Not to mention, she is soooooo HILARIOUS!

The precocious Bynes got her big break on her first audition, landing a cast spot on the sketch-comedy Nickelodeon show, ALL THAT. The then-10-year-old's natural improv skills helped her land her own show, THE AMANDA SHOW in 1999.

Hollywood soon came a knockin', pairing up the cutiepie actress with budding star Frankie Muniz in BIG FAT LIAR. The boob tube loved Bynes so much that they gave her a lead in the WB's WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU.

She also leads in teen comedies like WHAT A GIRL WANTS and SHE'S THE MAN.

The best part is, she came out (and is the same age as Lohan and Duff, and she's so much more a young lady. You never hear about her dating old men and partying til 5am.

Someone Writes...

After watching "THE SECRET," a buddy of mine shared something he wrote... I am going to share it with you all!

This is the testament of Brandon Brock. A lot can be learned in the short time that we as the human body possess, however the path for the human expierience is not through the mind but through the essence, "the heart". Light and darkness are the two paths given to us, or higher and lower frequency vibrations. We know both of these paths well 'and use them to get ahead on a daily basis. On the one side worldly power is the journey, "yet for those who seek this it is a destination, not a journey" which can be granted with the greatest of ease through deceipt and greed, but not without consequence and certainly no love involved. On the path of the righteous it is true happiness that is the journey, power holds no authority here. Throughout society we have chosen the easy, darker path to obtain instant gratification and power all the while trying to fill a void that has stared us in the face our entire existence, we are one, one ongoing, everlasting thing that never ends but always changes, interconnected to every other thing. So just be, let go of your anger, let loose the fear, and be here, now. Everything you do affects the universe, stop thinking, your mind is clouded with pollution brought on by a warped society enveloped in the very things that trap us into these lower vibrations of confusion, anger, insecurity, and fear. These things are all in your mind, not to say you don't need your mind but beware. We grow up bieng taught to ignore the instincts that the universe gives us and to rely on five imperfect senses. This is a crutch most men carry forever. If you believe in yourself and your instincts they, like muscles will over time develop into forces that are in tune with the will of the universe. Open your hearts and your bieng and let yourself be guided by the forces that are creation. This is a journey, not a destination. There is no end in sight only today. There are no limits of time; it is a journey that few will brave to embark on, those that do will reach a level of understanding that can no longer be explained by words or re-enactment. Good luck, if you beleive in that sort of thing, to all of you that seek out this light. When you find it their is no turning away. So it's your choice,.of course. Will you forge ahead clearing your concious of the haunting past and unknown future, or take an easier route? Life is simple, you do or you don't that's it. Live today like it is the only day you will ever know, and hold no regrets. Even if tomorrow you are shamed, or guilty, or humbled, you only have that day if you have it. This is what was meant for humanity, a natural balance...Brandon Brock-05-13-06

More Chris Evans!

CHRIS EVANS!!!

He is a handsome actor whose breakout role was in “Not Another Teen Movie.” Cast as the popular jock who transforms an ugly duckling into a popular princess, Chris Evans ran with the role and proved a more than capable comic talent.

Chris Robert Evans was born in Sudbury, MA, and spent the majority of his childhood in Boston before his love of acting brought him to New York City. It was during this time that Chris Evans alternated between an internship at a casting office and summer acting classes. With a little help from a contact he made that summer, Chris Evans began auditioning shortly after graduating from high school.

Chris is certainly making a name for himself. He's worked opposite some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Kim Basinger, Diane Lane, Scarlett Johansson, William H. Macy and Donald Sutherland, just to name a few.

He was named 'Male Superstar of Tomorrow' at the 2005 Young Hollywood Awards. He's been featured in many well known magazine publications; he's wowing directors and co-stars with his acting abilities and landing movie roles left and right.

AND HE’S SO HOT!

BUY THIS ALBUM

I posted a video of Robin Thicke while back. It was just one of those videos I had stumbled across. The song was “Lost Without U.”

I fell in love with this song. I think he has such a great sound in his voice. I listened to his entire album titled, THE EVOLUTION OF ROBIN THICKE! This album is amazingly phenomenal. I groove out to the entire album from beginning to end (while playing some tracks on repeat).

Being the nerd that I am, I went online and started researching him. Check out this bio I found from his official web site: www.robinthicke.com.

One year ago Pharrell Williams asked Jimmy Iovine, CEO of Interscope, "How can I be involved in the Robin Thicke project?" A month later, Robin was recording his first single "Wanna Love You Girl" with Pharrell in Miami, as a newly signed artist on Pharrell's label, Star Trak Records. This explosive, smash single immediately attracted the attention of radio and club DJs across the country.

The Evolution of Robin Thicke is the second solo album from the critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning songwriter and producer. The album is a timeless work of art with a voice of purity, passion and soulfulness. Robin brings to life the stories and emotions of the last two years of his life. Admittedly, those two years have been a tumultuous ride of ups and downs filled with incandescent magic. It is an album that tells the tales of love, loss, temptation, redemption and finding hope when all the odds are against you. "My greatest desire with this album was to write songs that were completely honest and sing them with the emotion I was feeling when I wrote them, so that whoever listens to my music is brought as close to my experiences and life as possible." With this intention, Robin's second U.S. single, "Lost Without U" is about Robin's insecurities and his need to be desired and loved. With sweeping vocals over rhythmic Spanish guitar, this song takes you away and makes you sing along.

Always carrying a heavy heart, Robin taught himself to play piano at the age of twelve so he could have an outlet to express himself. By the age of fourteen, he could play anything he heard on the radio. At sixteen, with no formal training, Robin began professionally writing and producing music for recording artists like Brandy and Brian McKnight. Over the years he has amassed dozens of gold and platinum records with artists including Usher, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera.

The Evolution of Robin Thicke is an imaginative and heart-felt album that you cannot help but be moved by, bob your head to and smile throughout.
